Duke linebacker David Helton is the 25th recipient of the Williams V. Campbell trophy, the National Football Foundation announced Tuesday.

The award recognizes the college football athlete who best exemplifies the marriage between academics, athletics and community service.

"David Helton’s exceptional accomplishments rank him among the best student-athletes in the history of our sport, making him the ideal Campbell Trophy recipient,” NFF President & CEO Steven J. Hatchell said. “He truly embodies the NFF’s mission of building leaders through football, and we are proud to have him as a member of this elite fraternity. We look forward to watching the future unfold for this incredible young man.”
