Jon Gruden: Brother Jay 'should probably look for a new job' if QB situation isn't figured out

If Washington Redskins owner Dan Snyder and general manager Bruce Allen make it clear to head coach Jay Gruden that Robert Griffin III is their quarterback of the future, Gruden should start scouring the want ads.

At least that's what Gruden's brother, ESPN analyst Jon Gruden, was saying on Thursday.

"Well, you probably look for a new job at some point if the quarterback doesn’t perform in your offense or for your team," Jon told ESPN's Mike and Mike show as relayed by Pro Football Talk's Michael David Smith. "I mean, that’s the reality of it. If you don’t get the quarterback playing well you’re going to have a hard time surviving in pro football."

As Jon points out, the Redskins are a mess. The first step toward respectability is stability under center.

“The Redskins aren’t there yet, and they need to find, A, who their quarterback is, and, B, they need to find a nucleus of players they can win with, and all that combined has made a mess in Washington, and you’re right, unfortunately my brother’s in the middle of it, and I wish him luck,” Jon said.

Rumors are swirling regarding Jay Gruden's future at the helm, with many suggesting that his handling of the RG3 situation will likely land him on the unemployment line at season's end.
