Nets sign guard Darius Morris

After dealing Andrei Kirilenko and Jorge Gutierrez to the Philadelphia 76ers in exchange for Brandon Davies on Thursday, the Brooklyn Nets had a vacancy on their 15-man roster. 

They've filled that spot by signing free-agent guard Darius Morris, who was waived out of training camp this year by the Portland Trail Blazers.

Morris played 27 games last season between the Philadelphia 76ers, Los Angeles Clippers, and Memphis Grizzlies, averaging four points and 1.6 assists in 11.6 minutes per game. 

Along with gaining two trade exceptions in the trade, the Nets reportedly saved close $11 million in luxury tax payments. They'll have to give a chunk of that back if they keep Morris on for the remainder of the season. 

He's owed $678,357 in salary, and would cost an added $2.37 million in luxury tax payments.
