Hawks mascot threatens Robin Lopez: 'You don't bully mascots and get away with it'
Robin Lopez appears to have gone too far with his harassment of NBA mascots.
The Portland Trail Blazers center has long had issues with the league's mascots, in particular with Detroit Pistons' mascot Hooper. On Tuesday, Lopez got physical with Hooper, and it's caught the attention of Atlanta Hawks mascot Harry.
Harry isn't going to stand for the mascot abuse any longer, posting the following Instagram video with the caption "You don’t bully mascots and get away with it, Robin Lopez!"
The Blazers next play the Hawks on Jan. 3 in Portland, with Lopez visiting Atlanta on Jan. 30, the date that Harry circled on his calendar in the video.
Based on his social media activity Wednesday, Lopez doesn't seem too concerned, continuing to egg on Hooper, mascots in general and, most surprisingly, official NBA mascot advocate Zach Lowe of Grantland.
Somehow, it doesn't feel like this will end well for Lopez. He should probably avoid All-Star Weekend, the one time of the year multiple mascots will be on hand to gang up on him.
