It's going to get worse for Borussia Dortmund before it gets better.

Dortmund - who sit 16th in the Bundesliga table - announced Sunday that Henrikh Mkhitaryan will be sidelined for the next six weeks after he suffered a torn thigh muscle during the first half of his side's 1-0 loss to Hertha Berlin on Saturday.

"He felt a tweak, which isn't good news in a three-game week," manager Jurgen Klopp said. "It's very likely that he'll miss the rest of the first half of the season.

The injury marks Mkhitaryan's second of the season as he was out for four weeks earlier in the campaign with a foot injury.

However, the timing of Mkhitaryan's injury could have been considerably worse this time around. The Bundesliga's mid-season break, which goes until the end of January, commences after this weekend, meaning Mkhitaryan will be able to recover without missing a large slate of matches.
