Fantasy Footnotes: Drew Brees comes up clutch

Dennis Wierzbicki / USA TODAY Sports

Every gameday during the regular season, theScore's fantasy editors recap the most important news and notes from around the league.

Drew Brees with a dominant performance

New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees has put up some mediocre performances this year, but he brought his A game on Monday.

Brees carved up the Chicago Bears, hitting on 29-of-36 for 375 yards and three touchdowns.

That performance likely propelled many fantasy teams to the finals and with a good matchup next week against the Atlanta Falcons, Brees will have an excellent chance to post another big stat line.

Other Notable Fantasy Lines

Pierre Thomas, RB, Saints
2 carries for 11 yards, 5 catches for 83 yards
Thomas was huge catching screens. If you had him in a PPR league, it was a very good night.

Mark Ingram, RB, Saints
17 carries for 59 yards, 1 TD
A garbage time score may be a difference maker for some fantasy owners.

Josh Hill, TE, Saints
2 catches for 15 yards, 2 TDs
You'd be hard-pressed to find somebody that started Hill, but he vultured away a pair of scores from Jimmy Graham.

Jay Cutler, QB, Bears
17-of-31 for 194 yards, 2 TDs, 3 INTs
It had the makings of a dreadful outing, but two fourth-quarter touchdown passes saved the day. One in the final 30 seconds probably cost some people a fantasy matchup.

Alshon Jeffery, WR, Bears
4 catches for 78 yards, 1 TD
Jeffery hauled in Cutler's garbage-time touchdown and now has scores in five straight games.

Waiver Wire

Marquess Wilson, WR, Bears
With Brandon Marshall done for the season, Wilson is going to be starting opposite Jeffery in the final two games. He only had three catches for 16 yards on Monday, but did catch a touchdown.
