Taj Gibson questionable Thursday with ankle issue

Dale Zanine-USA TODAY Sports

Is anyone going to play Thursday night?

The New York Knicks and Chicago Bulls are scheduled to face off in front of a national audience on TNT, but the bodies keep piling up on the sidelines.

Taj Gibson is the latest to add his name to the injury report, as the backup power forward is questionable due to a right ankle issue. That's not the same ankle that sidelined Gibson for six games earlier this season, which is a relief considering he's sprained that one three times in the last eight months.

In the 17 games he's managed to play, Gibson is averaging 12.6 points and 7.2 rebounds in 30.6 minutes, more or less exactly in line with the numbers that made him the runner-up as Sixth Man of the Year last season. The Bulls have been 3.1 points per 100 possessions better with Gibson on the court, and his absence would mean more run for inconsistent but exciting rookie Nikola Mirotic.
