Here's what you need to know:

  • Blue Jackets forward Nick Foligno continued his stellar contract year, scoring two goals and adding an assist in a losing cause.
  • The two sides racked up 52 minutes in penalties, including five roughing minors and three pairs of fighting majors.
  • Fehr's game-winner was his second point of the contest, as he registered an assist on Joel Ward's goal that opened the scoring in the first period.
  • Blue Jackets center Michael Chaput scored his first NHL goal late in the third period of his 44th career game.
  • It was not a good night for the goaltenders. Columbus netminder Sergei Bobrovsky allowed five goals on 36 shots, while Braden Holtby of the Capitals stopped 22 of 26 shots for the win.
