Orlando City announce signing of Brek Shea

When Orlando City SC kick off their inaugural season in March, one of the league's familiar faces will be taking the pitch in purple.

The signing marks a return to Major League Soccer for Shea, who left the league in 2013 and spent nearly two seasons with Stoke City, during which time he struggled to establish consistent playing time and was sent out on loan to both Barnsley and Birmingham City.

Beforehand, Shea had cemented himself as one the most prolific midfielders in MLS at FC Dallas. He made over 110 appearances for the club, notching 19 goals and being named an MLS All-Star in 2011. He was also nominated for the MLS MVP award in the same season.

At Orlando, Shea will be playing alongside Brazilian icon Kaka, who was signed by the club in July and will reportedly be the league's highest-paid player earning $7.16 million in 2015.

Things appear to be shaping up nicely in Orlando.
