Cavaliers' Irving wins USA Basketball award
Brad Penner-USA TODAY Sports
The United States rolled to winning the FIBA World Cup this past summer, and on Sunday, USA Basketball gave its Male Athlete of the Year award to point guard Kyrie Irving.
It's an award that could have also gone to Anthony Davis or James Harden, but the Cleveland Cavalier snagged it by averaging 12.1 points, 3.6 assists and 1.9 steals in the tournament. The U.S. beat Serbia 129-92 in the gold medal game.
