Report: Kings cool on Deron Williams, wanted Plumlee in deal

Soobum Im-USA TODAY Sports

Three days after reports surfaced that the Sacramento Kings were discussing a potential trade to bring Brooklyn Nets point guard Deron Williams to the California capital, the Kings' interest has cooled, according to ESPN's Chris Broussard.

Broussard reported that the Nets' Mason Plumlee was actually the Kings' main target in a deal, and Williams' contract and history of injuries was viewed as a necessary evil to obtain Plumlee.

However, it appears the Nets have no intention of dealing the 24-year-old Plumlee - despite the appearance of turbulence between he and coach Lionel Hollins - who is averaging 8.2 points and six rebounds per game this season.

Williams is averaging 15.6 points and 6.8 assists per game.
