- The sky is blue, water is wet, and Cain Velasquez continues to be the best Heavyweight on the planet.
- Velasquez's current knee injury opened up the door for Fabricio Werdum to stake his own claim to the throne. Werdum, who orchestrated a spectacular come-from-behind TKO victory over the normally iron-jawed Mark Hunt to win the interim Heavyweight title at UFC 180, will likely face Velasquez at some point in 2015.
- Alistair Overeem and Roy Nelson will square off in a battle to remain relevant at UFC 185 in March. Overeem has traded wins and losses over his last four outings, while the rotund Nelson has dropped three of his last four.
