Report: John Madden attends Mike Shanahan's interview with Raiders

The Oakland Raiders reportedly had a special guest present during their interview with Mike Shanahan. 

Legendary Raiders coach and broadcaster John Madden sat in on the meeting, according to Scott Blair of CSNBayArea.com.

Madden has sat in on interviews in the past, but there was no word why he attended the one with Shanahan. 

The logical answer could be to ease the tension between Shanahan and owner Mark Davis. The Raiders and Shanahan have had a frosty relationship ever since Mark's father, Al Davis, fired him early in the 1989 season.
