Penguins' Maatta will undergo shoulder surgery Wednesday; out for season

Pittsburgh Penguins defenseman Olli Maatta will undergo a surgical procedure to fix his injured shoulder on Wednesday and will miss the remainder of the season, the club announced Tuesday.
The 20-year-old has had a nightmare season punctuated by surgery to remove a cancerous tumor, a bout with the mumps virus and now his re-injured shoulder that will end his season.
It's a tough break, or a series of tough breaks, for a talented young defenseman who had managed a goal and nine points in his first 20 games of the season while logging top-four minutes and coming out way ahead by relative shot attempt differential.
