Wisconsin hires OC Joe Rudolph away from Pitt

First-year Wisconsin head coach Paul Chryst has hired Pitt offensive coordinator Joe Rudolph to serve in the same role, the school announced Tuesday.

Rudolph served on Chryst's staff at Pitt for the past three seasons. The school will also retain Dave Arenda for a third season as defensive coordinator.

"There are a number of similarities with Dave and Joe," Chryst said. "Both are obviously terrific football coaches. They care about our student-athletes not just as players, but also people. As coaches they are committed to helping them become successful and well-rounded adults. The players can sense that and really enjoy playing for them."

Pitt's offensive enjoyed success under Rudolph this season, averaging 31.8 points and 435.4 yards per game. The Panthers ranked No. 3 in the ACC in total offense.
