PHI 4, BUF 3: Flyers hand Sabres 10th straight defeat

The Philadelphia Flyers hung on to extend the Buffalo Sabres losing skid to 10 games. The Flyers scored a pair of power-play goals in the second period and added two more in the third for their first road win since Dec. 23.

Here's what you need to know about Saturday's game:

  • Zemgus Girgensons scored the only goal of the first period to give Buffalo a lead after 20 minutes for just the eighth time on the season. The Sabres fell to 5-3-0 when leading after one period.
  • R.J. Umberger and Mark Streit scored power-play goals 3:58 apart in the second period to put the Flyers in front.
  • Rob Zepp earned his third victory in his fourth start for the Flyers, stopping 24 shots.
  • Chris VandeVelde and Michael Raffl scored for the Flyers in the third period.
  • Buffalo has been outscored 43-12 on their losing skid.
  • Girgensons finished with two goals. Tyler Ennis had the other Sabres tally - his first goal since Dec. 31.
