Pelicans' Holiday out 2-4 weeks with stress reaction in lower leg
The New Orleans Pelicans announced Wednesday that point guard Jrue Holiday, who has missed the team's last four games with what's been called right ankle inflammation, is expected to miss the next 2-4 weeks.
According to the team, additional tests by physicians Tuesday revealed that Holiday developed a stress reaction in his right lower leg. He will be held out of basketball activities until his symptoms improve and will be re-evaluated on a week-to-week basis.
Last season, his first with the Pelicans after being traded from the Philadelphia 76ers, Holiday was limited to just 34 games thanks to a disconcertingly similar injury. He underwent season-ending surgery just under a year ago for a stress fracture in his right tibia.
Holiday has averaged 15.2 points and 7.1 assists in 37 games, while posting a career-best PER of 18.6, second on the team behind Anthony Davis. The news of Holiday's injury comes just as the Pelicans are preparing to welcome Davis back into their lineup.
