Lee Westwood has been appointed Officer of the Order of the British Empire, but his latest triumph could earn him more praise than his work on the links.

The 41-year-old golfer rescued a millionaire businessman from drowning in the Atlantic Ocean while vacationing in Barbados on Friday, according to Mike Lockley of the Birmingham Mail.

Colin Davies, who suffers from Parkinson's disease, was on holiday with his wife. He said he strayed away from her line of sight while in the water and began flailing in distress, but a family witnessed what was happening and called for help.

Westwood came to the rescue.

The two-time PGA Tour winner brought Davies back to safety, but the wealthy Englishman was unable to show his gratitude.

I was so shocked by the whole affair that I didn't convey my heartfelt thanks to the Samaritan who had rescued me. My wife returned to our part of the beach, packed up the stuff and headed for the room. A man some way from the incident asked me if I knew the man who had helped me? Still in a mild shock, I replied no.... The beach Samaritan was Lee Westwood.

Davies, who still has not been able to get in touch with Westwood, has a special wish for his rescuer:

“If there is a power looking over us, I hope he takes note and delivers three Majors to this kind and gentle human being," Davies said.
