Nets' Mirza Teletovic out for season with blood clots in lungs
Mirza Teletovic will miss the remainder of the season due to blood clots in his lungs.
Teletovic left the Brooklyn Nets' game on Thursday due to shortness of breath and was taken to a Los Angeles hospital where tests revealed bilateral pulmonary embolus - multiple blood clots in the lungs. The Nets announced Friday that he'll miss the remainder of the season.
The Bosnian forward is staying in Los Angeles to undergo further diagnosis and begin treatment. As part of that treatment, Teletovic will receive blood thinners, rendering him unable to play. He's expected to return to Brooklyn once he's cleared to travel.
One of four original players on the Nets roster when they moved to Brooklyn for the 2012-13 season, the 29-year-old was enjoying his best season to date. In 40 games, he's averaging 8.5 points and 4.9 rebounds in a career-high 22.3 minutes.
