VIDEO: Hassan Whiteside's ankle is fine, blocks 5 shots in 7 minutes

Kelley L Cox-USA TODAY Sports

Hassan Whiteside returned from a two-game absence due to a sprained right ankle on Sunday when his Miami Heat visited the Chicago Bulls. The Bulls wish he hadn't.

Whiteside said before the game that while his ankle wasn't yet 100 percent, his vertical jump was still strong enough to dunk on people. He wasn't lying, dunking early in the second quarter.

Far more impressive was that the dunk came on the other end of the floor after Whiteside blocked a Nikola Mirotic shot to start a fast break. Just seconds earlier, he had blocked a Jimmy Butler shot. Whiteside blocked five shots in all in the first half ... in just seven minutes of action.

It was a pretty incredible performance, and he added four points and four rebounds in his seven-minute stint for good measure. And so continues Whiteside's incredible renaissance, one that would have him all over the league leaderboard for shot-blocking if he qualified.

White(side) Hot Heat Entering Sunday Rank if Qualified
Blocks 34 52
BPG 2.0 6
Blk/36min 4.7 1
Blk/100poss 6.9 1
Blk% 11.2% 1

Five blocks in seven minutes will push each of those metrics even higher, and he's now jumped to 43rd in total blocks despite playing just 270 minutes, fewer than anyone in the top-100.
