Browns release statement on Josh Gordon's impending suspension
Cleveland Browns star wide receiver Josh Gordon is reportedly facing a one-year suspension after failing a drug test and the Browns released a statement Sunday in regards to the incident.
ESPN's Adam Schefter first reported the story.
Gordon reportedly tested positive for alcohol, which is a violation of the league's substance abuse policy due to his prior DUI.
"Clearly we are very disappointed to hear the latest report regarding Josh. At this point, due to the confidential nature of the NFL’s substance abuse policy, we have not been made aware by the league of a failed test. We are in the process of gathering more information and will provide further comment at the appropriate time," Browns manager of communications Dan Murphy said in a press release.
The mercurial receiver played in six games for the Browns, after missing the team's first 10 contests due to a drug-related suspension.
Gordon's latest incident may mark the end of his career, as he will be viewed as a high-risk, high-reward talent moving forward.
