Seahawks' Marshawn Lynch on Media Day: 'I'm just here so I won't get fined'
After being fined $100,000 for failed media obligations earlier in the season, the stakes were high for Seattle Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch at Super Bowl Media Day.
The NFL was threatening to fine Lynch another $500,000 were he not available to speak to reporters Tuesday, according to ESPN's Ed Werder.
While Lynch didn't completely avoid the appearance, he didn't exactly have much to say either. Upon taking a seat at his designated podium, Lynch informed the media that no matter what question they asked, he'd respond the same way every time:
"I'm just here so I won't get fined."
And he did just that for the next five minutes before promptly making his exit.
While Lynch's controversial approach to his media obligations will be the talk of the day, it doesn't appear his actions will result in any sort of discipline from the NFL:
Marshawn Lynch needed to fulfill 4 1/2 of 60 minutes during media day. So he’s all set. And by the way, he’s there so he won’t get fined.

During his time in front of the media throng, Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson was asked if there was one rule he could change, at which point he took the opportunity to show support for his running back.
"I just wish everyone would stop fining my man Marshawn," he said.
