Iowa will provide extra security for ESPN's Dakich at Saturday's game

Joe Maiorana / USA TODAY Sports

Iowa athletics will boost security for a visit from ESPN broadcaster Dan Dakich when the Hawkeyes host Wisconsin on Saturday, according to Scott Dochterman of The Cedar Rapids Gazette

Dakich made himself an enemy among Iowa basketball fans last week with his commentary on the Hawkeyes' 82-50 loss to the Badgers on Jan. 20. Center Adam Woodbury poked Wisconsin players in the eyes twice, causing Dakich to call him "cowardly" and "gutless." Although Woodbury later apologized for his actions, calling them accidental, Dakich didn't take back his comments.

"We have decided that there will be a member of the security staff sitting behind the television table," said Rick Klatt, associate athletics director for external affairs.

Dakich will broadcast live from the 161st Iowa-Wisconsin game with play-by-play broadcaster Bob Wischusen.
