Calvin Johnson: 'I'll do whatever I got to do' to keep Ndamukong Suh in Detroit

Calvin Johnson plans to make a big push to ensure defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh remains in a Detroit Lions uniform next season.

"I'll do whatever I got to do," the Lions' top wide receiver said Saturday at the NFL Honors awards show, according to Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press.

Suh is set to become a free agent and will be in high demand if Detroit is unable to sign him to a long-term deal before his rookie contract expires March 10. The 28-year-old led the Lions with 8.5 sacks in 2014 and was named to the All-Pro Team for the third time in his career.

Lions general manager Martin Mayhew has said he would be willing to apply the franchise tag to Suh at a cost of $26.9 million to prevent him from signing elsewhere.

"I think it's important for you guys to know that we want him back and we are willing to franchise him, transition him, whatever," Mayhew said earlier this month.
