Fantasy - WireTap: 3 players to watch on the wire

Bruce Fedyck-USA TODAY Sports / Reuters

Every Sunday, we examine 3 players you should consider picking up from the waiver wire in your pool.

Week 15 has likely felt like it's been going on for months, with most leagues running two weeks due to the All-Star break.

With your trade deadline approaching, the waiver wire is still the place to search for that diamond in the rough. We have three to watch this week, but first, here's a look at the top 10 points leaders as of Sunday morning.

Here are three players to target on the wire entering Week 16:

Stars D John Klingberg: 9 G, 15 A, +9, 57 SOG

Owned in 15 percent of Yahoo Leagues

Klingberg has been on our watch list before, but the 22-year-old has continued to put up points, making him a must-watch candidate on the wire this time around. The defenseman showed his offensive side Saturday night against the Winnipeg Jets, posting two goals - on two shots -  two assists, along with three power-play points, and a plus-1 rating. In his last eight games, the 2010 5th-round pick by the Stars has five goals, six assists and 17 shots on net. This week alone, he tallied six points to put him in the same category as the Penguins' Kris Letang, who recorded seven assists.

Ducks F Rickard Rakell: 5 G, 12 A, +2, 57 SOG

Owned in 1 percent of Yahoo Leagues

The little known Rakell is putting up so many points lately, you would guess his linemates are Getzlaf and Perry, but that's not the case. The 2011 1st-round pick has been on fire since Jan. 11, posting nine points in the eight games, including four goals.

If he continues to scores goals like in the video below, this kid may end up being a keeper for you one day.

Flyers D Michael Del Zotto: 5 G, 12 A, -5, 65 SOG

Owned in 15 percent of Yahoo Leagues

Coming off a five point season one year ago for the Predators, Del Zotto wasn't even being taken into consideration to be drafted at the start of the season, but he should be in consideration for a wire pickup this week. His last six games have been impressive, recording seven points, 21 hits and 15 shots on goal. Not known recently to be an offensive threat, the former 1st-rounder has shown signs that he may returning to his 2011-12 form when on the Rangers, when he recorded 41 points in 77 games.
