A Zamboni driver in Fargo, N.D. was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence during a high school hockey game.

Steven Anderson, a 27-year-old, was booked on Friday during a game between the girls' teams from Davies High School and Williston High School.

"I've been here for 22 years … and we have not had an incident like this before," Fargo Park District director of finance and human resources Jim Larson told Josh Francis of the Grand Forks Herald on Saturday.

Anderson will not return to his duties until the issue is formally addressed on Monday.

"I don't want to in any way dismiss how serious this is," Larson said. "We'll review the situation to determine how this happened and what we can do to make it even more foolproof."

Fans and school officials witnessed the Zamboni swerving and notified local police. Anderson was arrested and taken to Cass County Jail.

The teams elected to continue playing on the poor ice surface rather than waiting for another driver to arrive.
