New England Revolution midfielder Jermaine Jones will see his preseason preparations halted, as the American confirmed Monday that he'll undergo surgery to repair a sports hernia.

Jones played all 90 minutes in the United States' 2-0 win over Panama in a friendly on Sunday, but clearly thinks he can't play through the ailment during the upcoming season.

"Tomorrow's my surgery so I'll be out for a couple weeks, but then I'll get back sharp," Jones said in a video posted to his official Instagram account.

The 33-year-old will certainly miss the Revs' preseason Desert Diamond Cup next week, but there's been no official word regarding his status for the club's MLS season opener against the Seattle Sounders on March 8.

Judging by the video above, Jones believes he'll be just fine by that time.
