Mavs' Carlisle after losing to Rondo in Connect Four: 'Learn how to make a shot'
Jerome Miron-USA TODAY Sports
At first sight, Connect Four is a simple, whimsical game for children and adults alike.
But involve two hyper-competitive present and past athletes and a seemingly innocent pastime can devolve into nastiness.
That's what happened when Dallas Mavericks head coach Rick Carlisle took on noted Connect Four aficionado Rajon Rondo. Carlisle predictably lost badly, but the coach got the last laugh.
Rondo, of course, is a fairly abysmal shooter, as he has connected on just 26.3 percent of his free throws as a Maverick. Still, all is fair in love and war.
This is far from the first reference to Rondo's Connect Four prowess. In addition to defeating a bunch of children, Rondo also took his talents to television.
