Report: Browns expressing interest in Josh McCown
With questions abounding at the quarterback position, the Cleveland Browns could soon be turning their attention to the free-agent market.
The Browns have expressed interest in 12-year veteran Josh McCown and may soon bring him in for a visit, according to Mary Kay Cabot of the Northeast Ohio Media Group.
Despite a disappointing 2014 season with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, in which he threw just 11 touchdowns and 14 interceptions in 11 appearances, the 35-year-old has already been linked to a number of quarterback-needy teams since being released on Feb. 11.
Whether the Browns covet McCown as a starter or a veteran backup remains to be seen, but the team's recent quarterback play would suggest they have a need at the position either way.
Though there would be some significant competition for his services, McCown's past experience with offensive coordinator John DeFilippo - his position coach with the Oakland Raiders in 2007 - could work in Cleveland's favor should they opt to pursue him in the coming days.
