Report: Mariners prospect Sanchez still critical with double skull fracture

Charles LeClaire / USA TODAY Sports

Seattle Mariners pitching prospect Victor Sanchez remains unconscious and in critical condition following a boating accident in Venezuela, reports MLB.com's Jesse Sanchez.

Sanchez did, however, show signs of improvement Wednesday as a CT Scan revealed reduced swelling in the his head and neck area. The 20-year-old was also able to move his legs.

Sanchez sustained a double skull fracture and a brain hematoma when he was stuck by a watercraft while swimming in his native country last Friday.

Doctors are now determining the next course of action, which could include sending Sanchez back to the United States for treatment.

The right-hander is ranked as the No. 11 prospect in the team's farm system by MLB.com.
