If you haven't heard, Kevin Garnett is reportedly returning to the Minnesota Timberwolves, with whom he played his first 12 seasons in the NBA. In honor of the move, which few saw coming up until Tuesday night and provides a dose of instant nostalgia, here are KG's top 5 moments with the Wolves.
5. Cries during interview with John Thompson
OK, this isn't a highlight, but it was a key moment from his tenure in Minnesota. In a 2005 interview with TNT's John Thompson, Garnett displayed his incredibly emotional nature (the 4:30 mark) when talking about the team's struggles.
4. Posterizes Shawn Bradley
Garnett had many explosive dunks with the Timberwolves. This one on then-Dallas Maverick Shawn Bradley, however, captured the perceived narrative of both players' careers in an instant.
3. Putback slam vs. Kings
This was a Garnett highlight staple for several seasons.
2. Leads Wolves to win over Lakers
While Minnesota would end up losing this first-round series to the Los Angeles Lakers in six games, Garnett put up a monster performance in a Game 2 win, scoring 35 points, pulling down 20 rebounds and dishing out seven assists.
1. Delivers Game 7 victory over Kings in 2004
In Game 7 of the second round against the Sacramento Kings, Garnett led the Wolves to the Western Conference Finals with a 32-point, 21-rebound, five-block and four-steal performance. The No. 1 seeded Timberwolves would go on to fall to the Lakers, but it remains the furthest the franchise has ever advanced in the playoffs.
