Pruitt, of Southern Illinois, helped his draft stock more than any other tight end in the 40-yard dash, leading the way with a time of 4.58. The impressive run - combined with solid performances in other drills throughout the day - could start to get some teams excited about his athleticism.
Williams, who's widely considered the top tight end in this class, rebounded from a disappointing first run to post a respectable 4.78. Though it may not be in the range NFL teams were hoping for, Williams continues to look like a prospect that should come off the board no later than the early second round, and possibly even the late first.
Other Notable Performances
- Nick O'Leary, Florida State - 4.93 sec.
- Jesse James, Penn State - 4.83 sec.
An intriguing mid-round prospect, O'Leary was unable to help his draft stock with a relatively disappointing 40 time. His strong performance in catching drills makes for a positive sign, but O'Leary lacking the speed to separate at the next level could remain a concern for some teams.
