Laurence Gibson, Terry Poole and Mark Glowinski compiled the best performances Friday, jumping 9 feet and 5 inches high at the combine. Gibson was far and away the best tackle Friday, beating Pittsburgh's T.J. Clemmings by two inches.
Poole likely increased his draft stock with a strong showing and went viral for his unique warm-up gesture. Listed as a guard, Poole played at left tackle for San Diego State and his explosive jump showcased his versatility for personnel in attendance.
Glowinski displayed some surprising athleticism with his broad jump, and is likely ascending through some teams' draft boards. CBS Sports projected Glowinski as a seventh-round pick. He is having a strong combine after bench pressing 225 pounds 31 times on Thursday.
Other Notable Performances
- T.J. Clemmings (OT), Pittsburgh - 9-foot-3
- La'el Collins (OT), LSU - 9-feet
- Ali Marpet (C), Hobart & William Smith - 9-feet
- Andrus Peat (OT), Stanford - 8-foot-9
- Josue Matias (G), Florida State - 7-feet
T.J. Clemmings and La'el Collins solidified their first-round projections by jumping over nine feet. Andrus Peat is considered a first-round talent by many and displayed his athleticism with an 8-foot-9 inch jump.
Marpet was arguably the standout performer of the day, recording the best 40-yard dash (4.98) out of all the offensive lineman. The Division III prospect made a name for himself, putting together an excellent broad jump of nine feet.
Matias was a massive disappointment, recording the worst broad jump of the day, going a mere seven feet. The 22-year-old helped win a national championship at Florida State two seasons ago and was projected by some as a third-round selection. His poor showing may cause some teams to drop him down their draft boards.
