Judge rules against releasing Joe Mixon videotape
The off-field incident which has kept Oklahoma running back Joe Mixon off the field for the entirety of the 2014 season after he was suspended by the team will remain under wraps.
Friday morning, a district judge in Cleveland County, Okla., ruled against the Oklahoma Association of Broadcasters in a lawsuit in which the intent was to make the surveillance video in the Joe Mixon case public, according to Ryan Aber of The Oklahoman.
Mixon was suspended by Oklahoma for the entire 2014 season after a late-July incident in which he was accused of punching a woman, breaking four bones in her face and leaving her unconscious.
A plea deal was reached in late October that helped Mixon avoid a trial. As part of the deal, he was given a one-year deferred sentence, 100 hours of community service and will be required to attend cognitive behavior counseling.
A five-star member of the 2014 recruiting class, Mixon rated as the No. 1 running back recruit in the country. He was welcomed back to the team earlier this year and will participate in spring practice.
