Panthers recall 2 goalies in wake of injuries to Luongo, Montoya
The Florida Panthers have called upon a pair of goaltending reinforcements.
The club has recalled goaltender Dan Ellis from their AHL affiliate in San Antonio and Sam Brittain from the ECHL's Cincinnati Cyclones.
Netminders Roberto Luongo and Al Montoya suffered injuries in Tuesday's 3-2 loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Luongo returned and replaced Montoya in the third period after starting the contest, but 41-year-old goaltending consultant Robb Tallas was nearly forced to enter the game.
Eliis was 22-11-3 with a 2.70 goals-against average and a .906 save percentage in 36 games with the AHL's Rampage.
Brittain was a fourth-round pick of the Panthers in 2010. He was 14-11-1 with a 2.71 GAA and .895 save percentage in 27 appearances for Cincinnati.
