Iverson interested in front office role with 76ers
In an effort to help rebuild their struggling organization, the Philadelphia 76ers may have found an answer.
Sixers legend and 11-time All-Star Allen Iverson expressed a desire to take on some type of role within the team's front office.
"I would like to be even in that war room," Iverson said earlier in the week. "Even if they don't go with my decision or whatever, just to have an opinion and putting out what I think and trusting the organization to do what's right."
Iverson, who had his No. 3 retired by Philadelphia last year, won the 2001 MVP as a member of the 76ers and led the team to its last NBA Finals appearance that same year. Philadelphia lost in five games to the Los Angeles Lakers.
The 76ers selected the Georgetown product with the No. 1 overall pick in the 1996 draft and he went on to capture Rookie of the Year honors. Iverson, 39, is a four-time scoring champion and is tied with Hall of Famer Wilt Chamberlain for the highest points per game average (27.6) in franchise history.
