Report: NHL draft lottery to be held on April 18
Connor McDavid will know which NHL city he's headed to next month.
The league's draft lottery - the nationally televised draw to determine which team gets the right to select the Erie Otters center first overall - will take place on April 18, sources told Sportsnet's Damien Cox.
It will be held in Toronto on the season's first playoff broadcast on Hockey Night in Canada, according to the report.
The 14 teams that miss out on the postseason will be eligible for the lottery.
The Buffalo Sabres (20-46-7) have the league's worst record and the highest odds at the moment of winning the first overall pick.
The Arizona Coyotes (22-44-8) and Edmonton Oilers (20-40-13) have the second and third-worst records, respectively.
McDavid registered 120 points in 44 games with the Otters after posting 99 points in 56 contests last season.
