Doc Rivers: 76ers' Brett Brown deserves Coach of the Year consideration

Doc Rivers is a one-man hype machine. 

On top of repeatedly going to bat for his own players - like, say, boosting DeAndre Jordan for All-Star or Defensive Player of the Year consideration - the Los Angeles Clippers bench boss is campaigning for his coaching peers as well.  

Brown has done a fine job, wringing 18 wins (and counting) out of a Philadelphia 76ers team deliberately engineered to lose, and expected by many to compete for the mantle of worst all-time. But the writers and broadcasters who vote on such things would probably have to alter their criteria in order for Brown to sniff Coach of the Year consideration. 

In the 52 years the NBA has handed out the award, only Red Kerr of the 1966-67 Chicago Bulls has won it with a losing record (33-48). Rivers himself ranks "second" on that list, having won the award as coach of the 41-41 Orlando Magic in 1999-2000.
