X-rays negative on Parsons' sore right knee
Persistent knee soreness knocked Chandler Parsons out of Thursday's loss to the Houston Rockets during the third quarter. The good news, however, is that X-rays came back negative.
Parsons, who originally hurt his right knee over the weekend, will be re-evaluated Friday. He struggled Thursday against his former team and played with a noticeable limp for much of the game before departing. Parsons scored 11 points on 3-of-9 shooting in 26 minutes.
"It's pretty swollen and sore behind the knee," Parsons told Tim MacMahon of ESPN Dallas. "It's been sore for a few days now, but I thought I could get through tonight."
The Rockets, whom Parsons spent the first three seasons of his career with, downed the Mavericks 108-101 to win for the ninth time in their last 11 games.
"He tried to give it a shot tonight," head coach Rick Carlisle said. "He gave it a real shot, but he just wasn't moving right and he was having some discomfort, so we pulled him."
Parsons has been a consistent contributor for the Mavericks this season, posting averages of 15.8 points, 4.9 rebounds and 2.4 assists in 33.2 minutes per game. He's an occasional playmaker, a decent slasher and a consistent 3-point threat.
