Chicago Blackhawks defenseman Kimmo Timonen left Sunday's game against the St. Louis Blues after taking a hit from forward Ryan Reaves, reports Chris Kuc of the Chicago Tribune.
ESPN's Scott Powers reports that Timonen went head first into the boards, and he did not return to the game.
The 40-year-old Timonen, who is set to retire at season's end, didn't play the second half of the first period after taking the hit.
Mark Lazerus of the Chicago Sun-Times reports that Timonen will be day-to-day.
Since coming to the Blackhawks in a trade from the Philadelphia Flyers at the trade deadline, Timonen has yet to record a point in 15 games.
