Late Lin scratch gives Lakers all-Missouri backcourt

Dak Dillon-USA TODAY Sports

The Los Angeles Lakers have looked at times like they would struggle to beat a college team this season. Now they're going to look like one themselves, employing Missouri's starting backcourt from a year ago.

Jeremy Lin was a slate scratch from Wednesday's game due to a sore left knee, and the Lakers have inserted Jabari Brown alongside Jordan Clarkson in the starting lineup to replace him. Clarkson and Brown shared the Tigers backcourt last season as the team went 23-12, failing to earn a trip to the NCAA tournament.

Clarkson has been one of the lone bright spots in a lost Lakers season, developing a great deal over the course of the season. The No. 46 pick in June, Clarkson is averaging 11.2 points, 3.2 rebounds and 3.2 assists in 55 games, numbers that have jumped to 15.1, 4.2 and 4.7, respectively, in 34 starts.

Brown, meanwhile, was signed out of the D-League in mid-March. He's averaged 9.1 points and hit 41.7 percent of his threes in 14 games since joining the team.
