Dodgers acquire Ryan Webb from Orioles in 4-player trade
The Los Angeles Dodgers added pitching depth Thursday, acquiring right-handed reliever Ryan Webb from the Baltimore Orioles as part of a four-player trade.
Los Angeles also obtained minor-league catcher Brian Ward in the deal, as well as a competitive balance pick - the 74th overall in the 2015 draft.
Baltimore is set to receive minor-league backstop Chris O'Brien and righty Ben Rowen in return.
Webb, owed $2.75 million, spent the 2014 season with the Orioles, posting a 3.83 ERA in 51 appearances. He failed to make the team's Opening Day roster and was designated for assignment earlier in the week. The ground-ball artist enjoyed the best season of his career in 2013 when he recorded a 2.91 ERA over a personal-best 66 appearances with the Miami Marlins.
Ward posted a .617 OPS in 65 games at Triple-A Norfolk a season ago.
O'Brien hit .266/.341/.438 at the Double-A level in 2014 while Rowen made his major-league debut, appearing in eight games for the Texas Rangers.
