White Sox's Sale will pitch under restrictions in start Sunday
The Chicago White Sox will have ace Chris Sale on the mound for the first time this season Sunday, but the team will impose certain restrictions in order to ease the left-hander back into a regular routine.
Manager Robin Ventura said that he does not expect to use Sale for more than six innings or 90-95 pitches against the Minnesota Twins.
"If (the injury) was his arm, that would be one thing, but he's looked great in the past of just his mechanics and watching him in spring getting closer and closer to where he is now," Ventura told Doug Padilla of ESPN. "We're pretty happy with where he is now with that and you want to make sure you're not running him out there and not getting him overextended."
Sale suffered an avulsion fracture in his right foot in late February that kept him out for the entire spring.
The three-time All-Star went 12-4 with a 2.17 ERA across 174 innings in 2014 with 208 strikeouts.
