VIDEO: Jamie Benn scores hat trick to win Art Ross Trophy
The Dallas Stars may have been out of a playoff race and without forward Tyler Seguin, but that didn't stop Jamie Benn.
The 25-year-old scored three goals and earned an assist to secure the Art Ross Trophy against the Nashville Predators on Saturday.
In front of a raucous home crowd, the forward notched two goals in the first period and an empty-netter in the third to tie him for the league's point lead.
With time winding down, Benn did everything he could to get the deciding point that would put him ahead of John Tavares of the New York Islanders for the league lead.
With 8.5 seconds left in the contest, he got his wish, earning an assist on Cody Eakin's 19th goal of the season.
Benn beat out Tavares and Pittsburgh Penguins forward Sidney Crosby for the trophy.
