Cabrera caps monster series with 2 HRs, 4 hits to keep Tigers undefeated

Miguel Cabrera's surgically repaired ankle is fine. Just ask the Cleveland Indians' pitching staff.

The Detroit Tigers slugger stayed red-hot Sunday, homering twice, driving in four and upping his series average to an eye-popping .786 (11-for-14) to power his club to its sixth straight win, a sweep-clinching 8-5 victory over the Indians.

"He's fun to watch," teammate Ian Kinsler told reporters. "The game should be sold out just because of him. People should just want to come watch him hit."

J.D. Martinez added a solo shot and had three hits for the Tigers, who start the season 6-0 for the fourth time in franchise history.

Despite the Tigers' early success, the spotlight again shined on Cabrera, who continues to show no ill effects from offseason ankle surgery and a fractured foot.

The two-time MVP victimized Indians pitchers Sunday with a 4-for-4 effort - his third consecutive multi-hit games - and his first two homers off the season, including a towering blast in the fourth that nearly left Progressive Field.

Cabrera, whose 23 homers at Progressive are the most all-time among players with 100 or fewer games there, is now batting a blistering .520/.586/.840 through six games.
