Pacers win lottery tiebreaker with Jazz
The Indiana Pacers couldn't win their season finale to get into the postseason on Wednesday, but they scored a victory of sorts Friday.
The Pacers - who along with the Utah Jazz finished with identical 38-44 records - won a random tiebreaker instituted by the league. This means that Indiana will get the No. 11 seed in the draft lottery, while the Jazz will be 12th. Both will still have a shot of moving up to the top three in the NBA Draft, but in all likelihood, 11 and 12 is where they will select.
In other tiebreaker action Friday, the Dallas Mavericks got 21st ahead of the Chicago Bulls (both teams were 50-32), the Grizzlies go ahead of the Spurs (both 55-27) at 25th, and the Lakers (who own the Rockets' first-rounder from the Jeremy Lin deal) will pick 27th ahead of the Celtics (who go 28th thanks to compensation from the Clippers for Doc Rivers).
