Mayweather-Pacquiao tickets yet to go on sale
Two weeks before the most highly anticipated fight of the century, tickets have yet to go on sale for the Floyd Mayweather Jr.-Manny Pacquiao bout.
Tickets are expected to cost a minimum of $1,500 with many willing to pay a gargantuan sum in order to attend the May 2 event at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
The MGM Grand released a statement Friday saying there will be a "limited number of tickets available for sale," as reported by The Associated Press.
"This is not acceptable," said Bob Arum, Manny Pacquiao's promoter. "This is a worldwide event that the city of Las Vegas is involved in. It's one of the craziest things I've ever seen."
Ticket reseller StubHub has not made tickets available, while seats are going for $4,800 and up on seatgeek.com. Seatgeek's ticket availability still remains speculative, however, as the secondary broker has not secured the tickets yet.
"People are hesitant to buy in the secondary market before there's been an original sale," Connor Gregoire of seatgeek.com said. "And you've also got the incredible prices being asked for tickets now. That means a lot of people are not buying tickets at this point."
With time running out, the Mayweather-Pacquiao fight may have a fiasco on its hands before the bout gets underway.
