Mets' d'Arnaud suffers broken right hand after being hit by pitch

The New York Mets eighth straight win came at a significant cost. 

Catcher Travis d'Arnaud left Sunday's game in the seventh inning after getting hit in the right hand with a 92-mph fastball by Miami Marlins reliever A.J. Ramos. 

D'Arnaud was in obvious and immediate pain, dropping his bat and holding onto his hand. He was visited by the Mets' training staff and manager Terry Collins before being replaced by Anthony Recker.

The Mets announced that d'Arnaud suffered a broken right hand on the play. 

"It's not a good day," manager Terry Collins told reporters after the Mets 7-6 win over the Miami Marlins. "It's a good day we won. We'll take that away and we'll get billed for the next day."

The 26-year-old backstop was off to a strong start this season, entering the game hitting .289/.317/.526 with a pair of home runs and nine RBIs. 

New York also lost reliever Jerry Blevins on Sunday after he suffered a fractured forearm after being hit by a comeback. The two players join Zack Wheeler, David Wright, Vic Black, Josh Edgin and Bobby Parnell on the disabled list. 

The Mets are expected to call up Kevin Plawecki to replace d'Arnaud. In eight games with Triple-A Las Vegas, the organization's No.2 prospect is hitting .229/.250/.343 with two doubles and six RBIS.
