Jrue Holiday uncertain for Game 3, remains day-to-day
The New Orleans Pelicans are back at home as they try to rebound from a 2-0 deficit against the juggernaut Golden State Warriors.
It remains unclear whether a few sleeps in his own bed and some home cooking will be enough for Jrue Holiday, who remains listed as day-to-day and whose status remains in question for Game 3 on Thursday.
Holiday missed Game 2 on Tuesday due to soreness in his right leg, residual discomfort from the stress reaction that cost him three months toward the end of the season. The defensive ace was able to get into three late regular season games to shake the rust off and played 21 minutes in Game 1, scoring five points and dishing five dimes.
After getting in extra work at practice Wednesday, Holiday and head coach Monty Williams were still unsure if he'd be able to play in the first playoff game at Smoothie King Center since 2011.
If Holiday can't go, Tyreke Evans will once again start at the point with Norris Cole seeing heavy run off the bench. Even at less than 100 percent, Holiday is the team's best bet to slow down Steph Curry, and the Pelicans were 4.1 points per-100 possessions better with him on the floor this season.
In 40 regular season games, Holiday averaged 14.8 points, 3.4 rebounds, 6.9 assists and 1.6 steals, developing a dangerous two-way chemistry with superstar Anthony Davis.
