Beno Udrih sprains ankle, returns to Game 2
Finally, an injury has happened that wasn't to the Portland Trail Blazers.
The sides were hardly evened out at The Grindhouse on Wednesday, but the Memphis Grizzlies briefly lost reserve guard Beno Udrih to a right ankle sprain.
Udrih left the game with 7:16 to play in the second quarter, heading to the locker room with trainers before eventually returning to the bench. The Grizzlies initially called him probable to return but quickly downgraded him to questionable.
That was too pessimistic, as Udrih returned to the game with 3:47 to play in the third quarter.
Prior to leaving, Udrih had scored eight points in eight minutes. He scored 20 points in 24 minutes in Game 1. The Grizzlies need the guard depth with Mike Conley nursing a sore foot and the Blazers employing Damian Lillard. Nick Calathes is a good defender but doesn't provide Udrih's offensive punch, and it would have been interesting to see how the second unit played if Udrih missed the second half.
In 79 regular season games, Udrih averaged 7.7 points and 2.8 assists in 18.9 minutes, shooting 48.7 percent from the floor and 85.3 percent from the free-throw line.
